Established in the year 1974, Chest Hospital in Calicut was the first-of-its-kind private-sector venture in the field of Tuberculosis and Chest diseases in the state of Kerala. Fulfilling the vision of the late Dr. M.A. Abdulla, the founder of the hospital and a veteran in the field of TB and Chest diseases, the hospital has grown manifold and continues to serve the poor, the needy and the middle class of society.This multi-specialty hospital, with a vast pool of talented and eminent specialist doctors, is supported by a team of experienced and dedicated support staff. The hospital is known for its Department of Chest diseases and Center for Asthma & Allergy headed by Dr. C.P. Rauf MD. With over-40 years’ expertise in the field, he efficaciously leads the Critical Care Unit, Interventional Pulmonology, Sleep Lab, and the Pulmonary Function Lab as well.In 1990, the hospital set up a Diabetes Hospital with modern amenities, under the stewardship of Dr. M.A. Moideen MD. Calicut ENT— the department catering to the patients’ ENT issues, under Dr. V K Mohammed Zubair started functioning in the year 1995, followed by a Radiology department under Dr. M. A. Femina with ultrasonography and CT Scan facilities. Thoracic surgery unit under Dr. Naseer Yussaf came into existence during same period.Chest Hospital continues to draw inspiration from the founder, Dr. M.A. Abdulla’s, vision - to make available standard medical care for the poor and the middle-income group, and to work as a referral Centre for diagnostic and therapeutic work for Chest diseases.
